Knowing that someone out there is not just reading, but genuinely enjoying what I share, adds an unparalleled layer of joy to this experience. This award serves as a beautiful affirmation that this space, which I pour my heart into, is making a connection, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

But the recognition doesn’t stop there! I was also incredibly touched to receive the Brilliante Blog Award, passed on to me from the wonderful Prudy at Prudence Pennywise. Prudy, thank you so much for thinking of me and for this wonderful gesture! It’s truly heartwarming to be part of such a supportive and engaging blogging community. These awards aren’t just about accolades; they are about fostering connection, discovering new voices, and celebrating the passion that drives us all in the digital space. The Brilliante Blog Award also comes with a fun meme, an opportunity to share a little more about myself with all of you.
Understanding the Brilliante Blog Award Meme: The Rules
For those unfamiliar with the Brilliante Blog Award and its accompanying meme, there are a few simple rules to follow. This tradition is a fantastic way for bloggers to connect, learn more about each other, and shine a spotlight on other deserving blogs. Here are the guidelines:
- Link to the person who tagged you: This acknowledges the blogger who initiated your participation and helps readers discover their content.
- Post the rules on your blog: Transparency is key, ensuring everyone understands how the award and meme work.
- Write six random things about yourself: This is the fun part, allowing your readers to get a glimpse into your personality beyond your usual blog topics.
- Tag six people at the end of your post: Pay it forward by nominating other amazing bloggers who deserve recognition.
- Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog: A personal touch to inform them of their nomination.
- Let the tagger know when your entry is up: A courtesy to inform the original nominator that you’ve completed the meme.
Now, without further ado, let’s dive into the fun part: six random, perhaps surprising, things about me!
Six Random Facts About Me
1. I absolutely love sports. And by “love,” I mean watching them, not necessarily playing them! There’s a distinct thrill that comes with witnessing athletic prowess and intense competition. I particularly enjoy the electric atmosphere of live games; there’s nothing quite like the roar of the crowd, the palpable tension, and the shared excitement that washes over an arena or stadium. However, depending on the teams playing and the stakes involved, I can easily get engrossed in games from the comfort of my own home via television. Football and basketball hold a special place in my heart due to their dynamic strategies and thrilling plays. As a former competitive swimmer back in my younger days, the upcoming Olympics have me incredibly excited, especially for the swimming events. I love seeing the dedication and grace of the athletes, and it brings back fond memories of my own time in the pool. The precision, speed, and endurance required in swimming are truly mesmerizing to watch, and I’ll be glued to the screen for every race.
2. I’m a proud University of Florida Alum. Once a Gator, always a Gator! This means my blood runs orange and blue, and my weekends in the fall are primarily dedicated to one thing: Gator Football. The energy surrounding the University of Florida’s football program is unparalleled, and being an alum means being part of a vibrant community that passionately supports our team. There’s a deep sense of pride and tradition that comes with cheering on the Gators, from the iconic “Gator Chomp” to the camaraderie of game days. It’s more than just a sport; it’s a connection to my alma mater, a source of exhilarating entertainment, and a wonderful way to feel connected to a larger family of fellow alumni and fans. The excitement of SEC football, particularly when the Gators are playing, is truly something special that I look forward to every season.
3. My first language was Italian. This might come as a surprise to some, given that I primarily communicate in English now. The reason I use the past tense, saying “was” my first language, is because, unfortunately, I can no longer speak it fluently. I grew up in an Italian-speaking household, where the melodies and nuances of the language were my everyday reality. While I can still understand it quite well, especially when my family speaks it (which they still do), the words themselves no longer readily form on my tongue. Over the years, with less consistent practice and immersion, the ability to converse spontaneously faded. It’s a bittersweet reality; I cherish my heritage and the cultural connection the language represents, and while I understand the conversations, I regret that I can’t actively participate in the same way. It’s a reminder of how crucial practice is to maintaining any skill, especially language.
4. I love to vacuum. Yes, I know, this probably sounds peculiar to many people! For some, vacuuming is a chore, a necessary evil. But for me, it’s oddly satisfying and, dare I say, therapeutic. There’s something about the immediate gratification of seeing dirt and crumbs disappear, leaving behind neat, patterned carpet lines or gleaming hard floors. It instantly makes me feel like my house is clean, even if the rest of it might be in varying states of disarray. Beyond the visual appeal, vacuuming provides me with a unique opportunity for uninterrupted thought. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, especially with kids, finding quiet time to simply think can be a challenge. The hum of the vacuum becomes a sort of white noise, creating a mental bubble where I can process thoughts, plan my day, or just let my mind wander without being interrupted. It’s a small, quirky pleasure that brings a surprising amount of peace and a sense of accomplishment.
5. My husband is absolutely the funniest person I know. I am incredibly fortunate to share my life with someone who consistently brings laughter into it. He possesses a unique blend of wit, observational humor, and a knack for finding joy in the everyday. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, he always knows how to lighten the mood and make me crack a smile, often a full-blown belly laugh. His humor isn’t just about telling jokes; it’s about his perspective on life, his playful banter, and his ability to see the lighter side of any situation. Shared laughter is such an important foundation in a relationship, and with him, it’s a constant. He truly brightens my world and makes even the mundane moments memorable and fun.
6. I LOVE spicy foods. The hotter, the better! For me, a meal isn’t truly complete without a kick of heat. It’s an adventure for the taste buds, an exploration of flavors that awaken all the senses. I enjoy a wide spectrum of spicy cuisines, from the fiery curries of Thailand and India to the vibrant chili-infused dishes of Mexico and Szechuan. There’s an exhilarating rush that comes with the right amount of heat, a complexity that goes beyond just burning. I appreciate how different peppers bring unique flavor profiles – the smoky depth of chipotles, the fruity notes of habaneros, or the searing intensity of ghost peppers. It’s not just about enduring the heat; it’s about savoring the bold, vibrant flavors that often accompany it. For me, a truly spicy dish is an exciting and deeply satisfying culinary experience.
